Release highlights NPA’s commitment to transparency and open government, says party’s mayoral candidate Kirk LaPointe
Vancouver BC, November 7, 2014 – The Non-Partisan Association released its list of donors today, along with corresponding dollar amounts donated, as part of its central campaign pledge of openness and transparency.
“I have said from the outset that transparency will be the hallmark of this campaign. Today I make good on my word with the public release of this information,” says LaPointe.
The legal deadline for disclosing donations is Feb. 13, 2015. The NPA is following through with a promise to release its donor list with names and dollar amounts before Election Day on November 15 to allow Vancouverites to cast their votes in a fully informed way.
The NPA donor list indicates the party raised a total of $1.89 million in donations from 966 donors for the period from January 1, 2014 to Nov. 4, 2014.
The donor total includes 302 donations made in amounts under $100 apiece. The donor list includes no loans.
The NPA released its list before the election, as promised, in a transparent and searchable document.
LaPointe says he is deeply grateful for the donations from such a broad cross-section of Vancouver individuals and organizations. “The contributions support my team’s efforts to bring positive change to Vancouver, and based on what I’ve heard in my campaigning, there is a deep hunger for that.”
“The faith that so many have placed in us, and what our slate stands for, is much appreciated, and I believe it speaks to many Vancouverites’ desire to make our great city even greater – to make it the Vancouver we want.”
